Description
Fishermen casting their nets on the Sống Như Ý River. Circular nets adorned with small weights around the periphery are used in this ancient technique of casting. Skillfully thrown by hand, these nets gracefully extend over the water's surface, gradually descending. As the net submerges, it ensnares fish beneath to become captured as the net is hauled back into the boat. This simple device, with numerous adaptations over the millennia, has stood the test of time in fishing practices across Asia. This photo taken from the air over the Cầu Vân Dương
(or Van Duong Bridge), in Thành phố Huế, Hue, Vietnam. Fun fact: The name of this river: Sống Như Ý, means “live as you wish”
