Artist's Description
For his 9-month birthday, we took our Labrador Retriever puppy, Hugo, for a run by the beach. It's winter here in Toronto, but Hugo would probably dive into Lake Ontario even if it were ice-covered, which fortunately, it's not this year. And once he emerged from the icy water, he ran straight for these reeds but we didn't know why until we noticed the well-camouflaged dog-friend he was running to greet. The two romped through the tall grass for several minutes before Hugo realized he was wet and cold, and had to go.
